With 27 points in their kitty, Coach Imama Amapakabor and his Enugu
Rangers are at the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League,
leading second and
third placed teams, Abia Warriors and FC Ifeanyi Ubah
with four and five points respectively.
This weekend, against a half-fit Rivers United in Port Harcourt,
Rangers may come out unscathed at the Yakubu Gowon stadium as the Port
Harcourt-based side are already lamenting the loss of five of its key
players due to injury.
Rivers United foreign stars, Yaovi Douhadji, Godbless Asamoah, Wilson
Ando and Guy Kueiman are all ruled out of the game where Amapakabo will
expectedly seek consolidation by unleashing his team of Flying
Antelopes.
Also Jos-based Giwa FC with its barrage of troubles will seek a move
out of the danger zone, when they play host to Wikki Tourists at the
Ilorin township stadium where they have been banished to by the LMC,
while Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) will unleash a legion of
prayer warriors against embattled Akwa United at the Agege stadium. Akwa
United would be without their technical adviser, Mourice Coreman, who
was recently suspended over the club’s poor results. A loss this weekend
could place the Akwa United players on half salary as threatened by the
club’s management.
